The average temperature during an average winter in Texas is somewhere around 50*. When we first moved here, there MIGHT be a flurry or 2 in the air if you concentrated real hard and crossed your eyes. Parents would wake their children up in the middle of the night to see the glorious white flakes that were so incredibly rare in this part of the country. I think this makes 3 years in a row where there has been measurable snowfall...each succeeding year worse than the previous. This year has been particularly brutal. Garland schools NEVER close. EVER. They have canceled school 4 days IN A ROW now and I have only been able to get to work once this whole week. (and it took me 45 minutes where it normally takes 10) Granted, if this ice and snow had fallen in NY or UT, it wouldn't even rate a mention, but here it is nearly debilitating. It was fun at first, but stick a fork in us 'cause we're DONE!! The snow is beautiful....thank you for coming...now LEAVE, and take the ice, wind and frigid, below freezing temps with you!!!
