The Texas educational system likes to shine on accomplishments. They graduate from pre-school, 5th grade, and high school. Today marks my 4th child to graduate from Abbett Elementary School...1 more to go. (I have had atleast 1 child at Abbett every year for 14 years, and Dallin will be there for 3 more years.) That's a long time to have kiddos at a particular school, so I have seen my share of book fairs, choir concerts, field days, and graduations. Today was the BEST graduation I have ever been to. It was funny, it was poignant, it was quick, and it was wonderful to see my daughter's smile. We celebrated by taking her closest friends to see Marmaduke, eat pizza, and of course...swim!! Yeeha Cow!! Ok....so that's the fun part. Now for the kicker...The words of the great Dickens classic come to mind..."it was the best of times, it was the worst of times..." It was the best of times for Erin and her friends, for Dallin who did a great job finishing up 2nd grade, for everyone at our house. So, after endless pictures, and trying to herd 5 giggly "tween" girls into the car,(which is seriously harder than it sounds!!!) we get to the movie theatre. I sent the girls inside to get out of the 100 degree heat and Gram and I stayed in the line for tickets. My mom gets up there right beside me, asks for one 'senior' ticket to Marmaduke at 11:40. Then the girl behind the glass looks at me....thankfully she was behind the glass to protect her....and she says the WORST words I have ever heard in my life...: 'same for you ma'am?' WHAT!!!!!!!??????? Do I look like a senior citizen!!??????? Remember the therapy thing? Yeah well I better add a few more sessions.
Here's lookin at you... ok..me.
