Happy Birthday Erin!!

My beautiful daughter Erin Michelle turned 12 on July 23rd, and we had an amazing day filled with laughter, friends, and chocolate! Turning 12 also means that Erin moves from Primary (kids 3-11) into the Young Women's organization. (girls 12-18) Below is a picture of her new YW president, Brandy Dowdle (left) and her Beehive advisor Natalie Cooper when they came to give Erin her personal progress information and fill her in on what YW's is all about. They are so wonderful and Erin loves them already!
Just after midnight on the 23rd, Andrew and I stood outside Erin's room, making preparations to begin her birthday celebration...early! She won't mind if we wake her up...lol
After flipping on the light, and a rousing chorus of "Happy birthday to You" Andrew gave his gift to Erin. Don't be fooled...she's smiling because of the Dr Pepper...not because we woke her up.2 liters of soda, a beach towel, new headphones, and unable to go back to sleep...ahh birthdays...
I got up early to make homemade cinnamon rolls for the birthday girl. Couldn't find the rolling pin so I made like an authentic pizza parlor chef and used my hands. I'm amazing like that. lol
They may not be perfect but they smelled amazing!!! Atleast they WOULD have, except the rolls expanded more than I expected during the baking process. The butter and sugar might have dripped ever-so-slightly onto the bottom of the oven....The smoke was cleared before the friends (or fire dept) arrived, so all's well that ends well. Right? Guys?
A bit of icing and they were perfect! (no smoke damage) They were YUM
The birthday girl waiting patiently for her gifts from the family.
New goggles from Dallin.

This Coolio cup is from Ben to Erin. He wanted to keep it SO bad. I love this pic because you can see him relinquish possession to its new owner.
She loves it. duh. She says "It makes drinking, fun!"
Covering her eyes, waiting for the best present yet. (I hate to buy wrapping paper. Its a waste, so we just have them close their eyes. Yes...I'm cheap)
YAY!!!!! A vintage Dr Pepper shirt.

When Allison and Rachel arrived, we decorated cupcakes. I couldn't figure out what to do for a cake, so I thought we would each make our own little "cake" and put them together. It was a blast!

This cupcake was especially for our dear friend Rodger Sorensen. He and Erin share the same birthday so we thought it only fitting that we decorate a cupcake in his honor. We love you Rodger!

Ben lighting the birthday cakes
Erin making a wish. With a face like that, how can it NOT come true?
I decided against a video of us singing,(you're welcome) so this pic of Erin being serenaded will have to do.
"Let's smash cake in our face!!" says Erin. ....what have I taught my daughter?
That was fun..lets paint our face with frosting now!!!
Allison doesn't do chocolate (what is up with THAT?) so they used frosting tubes on her. She was a willing subject!!! (are all 12 yr olds that crazy?)

Vogue and Vanity Fair Covergirls, eat your hearts out!!
Time for the friend's gifts.
A gift card from Allison to Erin's fav store, Aeropostale

Getting in to Rachel's gift was a bit more difficult. Dang tape.
They had her close her eyes while they got it out for her.
Cute new friendship bear
Dallin trying to steal the bubbles that were in the bottom of the box.
Right after this picture was taken, we left to see Harry Potter! It was SO much fun and we had a blast. The movie was terrific!
After the movie and a major pizza feast, we were off to the pool!

It was a great day. Thanks Erin, you're the best!!! I love you baby girl!!!
